sstc's committees
Shady Shakespeare relies greatly on our many volunteers who give generously of their time on one of our committees, each of which helps support a key area of the company. To join a committee, please
Education Committee Shady Shakespeare is developing an education and outreach program. The role of the education committee is to develop and manage educational events and classes. Committee members help with research, writing, performing, and by building relations with educational institutions. Fundraising Committee Fundraising is the oil that keeps the Shady Shakespeare machine running. It's what allows us to present our work to the public for free, even though the costs of doing what we do every year is considerable. Members of the fundraising committee manage and participate in fundraising activities throughout the year, from poker and golf tournaments to our annual gala. They also write grants and research new fundraising opportunities. Production Committee Producing Shakespeare in an outdoor environment each year is no small task! The production committee oversees many of the production aspects of our shows, including scenery, props and costume stock. Members of this committee build and paint scenery, sew costumes, assist in the acquisition of new equipment for the company, and are active in each year's load-in and strike efforts. Publicity and Public Relations Committee Shady Shakespeare looks to our publicity committee to help get the word out about our performances, fundraising and education events. Publicity committee members contribute skills including graphic design and public relations, and they assist with marketing administration and the management of external vendors. |
