Welcome to the Bard Academy of the Bay Area - a division of Shady Shakespeare Theatre Company! Welcome to the Bard Academy of the Bay Area, an education program designed to meet the specific needs of Silicon Valley youth with an interest in the performing arts. We are delighted to offer classes designed to help students better understand the Bard's text, better represent themselves as artists, and develop skills to make them stronger Shakespearean actors and technicians.In 2011, Bard Academy will be providing opportunities in three areas:
Shakespeare Camp for KIDS and Teens Shady Shakespeare's Bard Academy offers a summer camp with theatre training just for kids and teens! Students will dive headfirst into acting, improvisation, safe unarmed stage combat, and stage makeup application, plus behind-the-scenes action, including creating costumes, props, set pieces, and more. No prior experience is needed, and every student will be cast. Whether you’re a beginner to the Bard or already savvy on stage, come make a scene with Shady Shakespeare this summer! LEARN MORE ABOUT SHAKESPEARE CAMP>> Takin' it to the schools Shady Shakespeare’s In-School Outreach program brings the excitement of live theatre off the stage and into your classroom. We offer a variety of workshop topics that have been carefully developed to incorporate the California State Performing Arts Standards, reinforcing and complementing general education goals. Additionally, our individual workshops can be expanded and/or combined into a series of classes, providing a built-in professional staff development component in theatre education for the participating classroom teachers. Our instructors are not only experienced educators, but are also working professionals in their fields, bringing a unique, invaluable blend of professional expertise combined with a gift and love of teaching.
